Apart from diving there's a lot to fill your days around here. We have a two-person kayak for rent by the hour to cruise the lake under your own steam. Waterskiing can be organized any day, snorkelling equipment is available for rent and cliff jumping is just a short hike or kayak away. Immerse yourelf in the local Kakchiquel culture by learning backstrap weaving with a local teacher. We also have a traditional temescal or wood-fired sauna for the ultimate in cleansing relaxation.
There are many foot paths around Santa Cruz with stunning views of the lake and volcanoes. Hikes range from 20 minutes up to the village, 3 hours to San Marcos, or 5 hours for the adventurous up to Solola. Maps and info available at the restaurant. Start your day right with morning yoga from 8-9 on our patio. Just Q25 with Belle and Elaine, our fantastic instructors. Elaine also offers massage for just Q150/$20 an hour. Haircuts, waxing, facials and other beauty treatments are also available in our salon by appointment any day of the week.
Study Spanish with friendly qualified instructors. We offer a weekly package for $125 including 7 nights dorm accomodation (room upgrade available), 6 days of Q75 food allowance in our restaurant, and 20 hours of one-on-one Spanish classes. Not ready to commit to a week? Hourly classes are available for Q25 (just over $3!).
Jump off our dock and go for a swim. The water is around 20° or 70°F, so it's cool enough to wake you up and may cause some shrinkage, boys, but permanent damage is unlikely. Note: Volcanoes in the distance and moonlit swims can do wonders for your pulling power.
Relax. Perfect the art of doing nothing. Swing in a hammock. Check a few emails. Waste some time on the pool table or dart board. Get excited about board games (Risk, Scrabble, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, Chess, Backgammon, and even Twister), read a book or a crappy magazine. After all, when doing nothing who's to say when you're finished?
